December 6, 2024 -
Typically, the last meeting of the year is a recap of past movies shot and shown over the past 12 months, however I started receiving last minute requests to show content (I only need a few minutes....) that I was able to make a meeting out of it!
ISHS 70th Anniversary
First up was the premiere showing of the Indooroopilly State High School 70th Anniversary: The Alumni Stories, shot and edited by David and Kohsuke. P&C representative Michael R was there and told us the original plan was to tell 70 stories, but that got reduced to 70 FaceBook posts once the logistics of shooting 70 stories was worked out. The Alumni Stories featured 3 interviews where segregation of the sexes still existed, kids were kids and got up to all sorts of mischief, and wokeism didn't exist. Unfortunately we don't have permission to link to the video.
Together - Premiere date announced!
Peter's passion project, Together, will be shown at Dendy Coorparoo on 8th March, 6:30PM to 9:00PM. The theatre 'only' seats 246 so get your tickets for ONLY $15 at Trybooking.com Together The Premiere. Running time is estimated to be around 110 to 120 minutes, featuring 7 short film and 4 couple vignettes, and will be shown in 4K. Peter then showed another first, the making of the poster by talented local artist Alyson, who also features in the film and was also in YANA.
On the Beach
Peter introduced us to a talented overseas amateur film maker who is now residing in Australia, Hassan, who is interested in becoming a BMM member. We were able to watch the entire 20 minute movie with his permission because it's behind a pay wall, but here's a trailer of On the Beach. In short, it tells the story of a young man whose girlfriend has emigrated from Iran, who has been waiting for her on the beach for days. His brother visits him every day and brings him food and water and sometimes blames him. But one day…
We then had a short break to celebrate the evening. Thanks to Jenn for the mini quiche pies, and to David W and Nigel for the beverages. After the break, the firsts continued:
3 short movie firsts from Freddie-Lee
The Littlest Pizza Maker More Cheese part 2 features Freddie-Lee and his son making a pizza. It's a sequel to a father son ritual that has become a tradition.
Never Self Crack is a topical movie short he made, just in time for Christmas
The Exchange was shot in Melbourne recently at Flagstaff. The concept was developed on the flight down to Melbourne and shot in just 3 hours
Michael M shared a 5 minute video his son Brian took late last year on the trip down the Seine in Paris.
Neal's better!
During the meeting, we were told that Neal had been hospitalised for an undisclosed condition. I learned today on 14 December that he's just been discharged and is on the mend
Merry Christmas to all
In closing, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all. Stay safe, eat, drink and be merry.
Next meeting
Our next meeting is on the 16th of January, so see you then. Happy filming and don't forget about the Buddy Project
